Authorities across the country have been placed on high alert as a strong spell of stormy weather is expected to hit several regions, prompting emergency preparations.

The National Disaster Management Authority (NDMA) has issued an alert over an incoming powerful western weather system that is likely to bring heavy rain, thunderstorms, and unusual late April snowfall in northern areas. Officials warned that the system could lead to severe weather conditions in the coming days.

Forecasts suggest that Islamabad, Murree, Rawalpindi, Lahore, Sialkot, and other cities in Punjab may receive heavy rain along with thunderstorms and hail. Strong winds during this period may also cause damage to infrastructure and disrupt routine life.

Heavy snowfall is also expected in upper regions including Gilgit Baltistan, Azad Jammu and Kashmir, and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, which may lead to a sharp drop in temperatures.

Authorities have cautioned that continued rain and snow could increase the risk of landslides in hilly areas. Tourists and travelers have been advised to avoid unnecessary travel to vulnerable regions during this period.

NDMA has instructed all relevant departments to stay on high alert and ensure quick response measures are ready to handle any emergency situations caused by the expected severe weather.
