RAWALPINDI: A tragic accident in Taxila claimed the lives of two children and left another injured after they were hit by a train, as per the report.

According to details, the incident took place in Rawalpindi’s Taxila where the children, identified as four-year-old Lubaba and four-year-old Rehan, were playing near the railway track.

All three were critically injured and taken to the hospital, but one later died from his injuries, raising the death toll to two. The third child is still under treatment at a local hospital.

Authorities said the children had been playing dangerously close to the railway line when the accident happened.

In a separate incident earlier, at least 17 passengers were injured near Khanewal Railway Station when an attempted theft of a railway pole ladder caused an accident.

Rescue officials reported that passengers on the Awam Express and Musa Express sustained injuries to their hands and arms.

The injured included women, elderly passengers, and children, all of whom were taken to a nearby hospital for treatment.

According to reports, unidentified thieves had tried to steal an iron ladder attached to an electric signal pole near the track.
