The Sindh Building Control Authority (SBCA) has revoked the provisional No Objection Certificate (NOC) earlier granted to Bahria Town Karachi (BTK) for sales and advertisements, which had been issued on September 19, 2022.
According to the official notification, the step was taken in light of the Supreme Court’s orders in CMA 8758/2018, dated November 23, 2023, as well as BTK’s failure to provide land ownership documents and its default on paying installments of Rs460 billion due by August 31, 2026.
The notice stated that these defaults and legal violations put the security of 16,896 acres of land at risk, undermining the basis on which the provisional NOC had been granted.
Exercising its powers under section 4 of SBCO 1979, SBCA noted that continuing the NOC would mislead the public and validate illegality. The authority, in its 20th meeting on September 3, 2025, decided to withdraw the certificate with immediate effect.
“You are therefore directed to refrain from carrying out any sale, purchase, booking, or advertisement of the plots/built units in BTK,” the notice read.
At the same time, SBCA assured that the rights of existing allottees will remain safeguarded as per the Supreme Court’s directions.
