The Khyber Pakhtunkhwa government has introduced the Zhundoon OPD Card, a new program designed to provide free outpatient healthcare to people across the province.

Launched on Thursday by Health Department Advisor Ehtesham Ali, the initiative is currently being run as a pilot project in four districts: Mardan, Kohat, Malakand, and Chitral.

Officials shared that under this scheme, citizens will receive free consultations, diagnostic services, and essential medicines.

The project has been allocated a budget of Rs2 billion and is supported by the German development agency KfW.

The Zhundoon OPD Card follows the success of the Sehat Card Plus program, which focused on inpatient care. Authorities see this step as an important expansion toward broader health access across the province.

To check if they qualify for the new service, residents can send their CNIC number via SMS to 9930.

Officials added that this initiative will help bring quality outpatient healthcare closer to people living in far-flung and underprivileged areas.
