KARACHI: The Karachi Chamber of Commerce and Industry (KCCI) has announced a countrywide strike set for Saturday, July 19, to voice strong opposition to the new tax policies introduced in the Finance Bill.

This move has gained support from leading chambers of commerce and several trade and industrial associations across the country.

Traders are protesting against several key measures, including the Rs200,000 transaction limit, the Federal Board of Revenue’s authority to make arrests, and the mandatory implementation of digital invoicing and e-billing.

The business community argues that these steps are damaging to commercial activity and unfairly burden traders.

The strike call came after KCCI’s recent meeting with a senior federal minister ended without any meaningful outcome.
