KARACHI: Sui Southern Gas Company (SSGC) on Saturday announced a 24-hour suspension of gas supply to the industrial sector across Sindh due to a shortage in the system. The step has been taken to improve gas pressure and ensure fair distribution among consumers.
According to a statement issued by spokesperson Salman Siddiqui, the company “remains committed to ensuring improved gas pressure for its consumers” and is taking necessary steps to handle the limited supply.
He said that because of the gas shortage in the system, the decision was made to ensure equal distribution of gas to all sectors and to improve line pressure.
“According to the schedule, gas supply to all industrial consumers, including captive power plants, will remain suspended from 8:00am on Sunday, April 12, 2026, to 8:00am on Monday, April 13,” the statement said.
SSGC added that the temporary suspension is part of its efforts to stabilize the system while continuing supply to priority sectors.

The company has been carrying out scheduled gas load shedding in different areas as part of its load management plan to deal with the ongoing shortage. This move is meant to balance supply and demand, especially during peak usage hours.
SSGC aims to make sure that priority consumers, such as domestic users and essential services, continue to receive a steady and uninterrupted gas supply.
The load shedding plan is managed carefully to reduce inconvenience, while the company takes necessary steps to manage gas reserves and keep the system stable across the country.
