Pakistan has enough stocks of ghee and edible oil to meet domestic demand for the next two months despite rising geopolitical tensions and possible disruptions in global supply chains, industry officials said.

Pakistan Vanaspati Manufacturers Association Chairman Sheikh Umer Rehan said supplies of ghee and edible oil in the country remain stable even amid the uncertain regional situation following the US-Iran conflict. He said Pakistan currently has sufficient reserves of both items to meet national consumption needs.

“Pakistan will not face any shortage of ghee or edible oil,” Rehan said, adding that the industry is fully prepared to ensure uninterrupted supply in the market.

He further said that local manufacturers have adequate stocks of both raw materials and finished products. Several import consignments are also on the way, which will further strengthen the country’s supply position.

Rehan said multiple shipments of edible oil and oilseeds are currently heading to Pakistan through sea routes. These consignments are expected to reach different ports in the country according to schedule.

Once the shipments arrive, they will be quickly supplied to local industries and distributed in the market, he added.
