The Punjab government has extended the deadline for mandatory vehicle emission tests and fitness certificates from October 15 to November 15, 2026, allowing vehicle owners an extra month to complete the required inspections.

According to reports published on October 9, the Punjab Provincial Transport Authority announced the extension to give motorists more time to meet the requirements. The decision comes ahead of the winter smog season as the provincial government steps up efforts to reduce air pollution.

Once the exemption period ends, vehicles must obtain the required fitness certificate. The certificate is reportedly valid for one year. Vehicle owners are advised to check the requirements for their specific category before booking an inspection.

Where Can Vehicles Be Tested?

Motorists can get their vehicles inspected at authorised Provincial Vehicle Inspection and Certification System (PVICS) centres.

The Punjab Transport Authority has listed licensed testing centres in several cities, including Lahore, Faisalabad, Multan, Sargodha, Rahim Yar Khan and Sadiqabad. Vehicle owners should confirm that testing services are available before visiting a centre.

Authorities have warned that vehicles required to hold valid fitness certificates could face legal action or penalties if owners fail to meet the applicable deadline.
