KARACHI: The Sindh Healthcare Commission (SHCC) on Thursday sealed 10 more illegal “beauty clinics” in different areas of Defence Housing Authority (DHA) as part of its ongoing crackdown on unlicensed cosmetic treatment centres in Karachi.
The SHCC said these clinics were carrying out Platelet-Rich Plasma (PRP) therapy, mesotherapy, and other sensitive procedures without having registered dermatologists on staff.
One large facility on Khayaban-e-Ittihad, previously sealed, was found operating again after the locks were broken. Authorities shut it down for a second time and evacuated everyone inside.
In Phase VII, a beauty salon was caught offering PRP treatments through untrained workers, while in Phase II, a clinic run by a BA Sociology degree-holder had resumed work despite earlier closure orders.
The SHCC stated that the owner had been instructed a month ago to remove the equipment and return the premises to the landlord.
Another outlet, ‘Aesthetic Solutions’ in Badr Commercial, Phase V, managed by a midwife, was sealed, as was a facility where a physiotherapist was found performing PRP at Rajput Clinic. Another unqualified team was also shut down immediately.
The operation was led by SHCC Assistant Director Anti-Quackery Karachi Dr. Razia, along with Deputy Director Ahmar Abbas Saldera and Assistant Directors Moez Qureshi and Farheen Lashari.
The SHCC claimed that some registered doctors are helping such illegal operators by allowing their identification to be misused and assured continue to take strict action against all violators.
