The National Electric Power Regulatory Authority has raised electricity tariffs by Rs1.42 per unit as part of the monthly fuel price adjustment (FPA) for February 2026.

As per the official notification, consumers will see the updated rates in their April 2026 electricity bills. This increase will apply to all users, including those receiving power through K-Electric, in accordance with government policy. However, lifeline consumers and electric vehicle charging stations will not be affected by this adjustment.

This move comes after an earlier increase of Rs1.63 per unit under the January 2026 adjustment, which has already added to the financial strain on electricity users dealing with rising utility expenses.

Apart from the monthly fuel adjustments, consumers are also paying higher bills due to recent changes in the tariff structure. Earlier this year, NEPRA approved fixed charges based on sanctioned load instead of actual electricity consumption. Under this revised system, all domestic consumers except lifeline users must pay fixed charges even if their electricity usage remains low.

Previously, these fixed charges were only applied to households using more than 300 units per month, with fees ranging between Rs200 and Rs1,000. Under the new policy, charges are now calculated according to the kilowatt load, which has increased the burden on households that consume less electricity.

The latest increase reflects the growing pressure on electricity consumers as tariff policies continue to change and energy costs keep rising across the country.
