Rawalpindi records coldest day of winter as temperature hits 1°C

Rawalpindi experienced the coldest day of the winter season as temperatures fell to 01°C on Friday. The Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD) said that continental air is prevailing over most parts of Pakistan.

Under these conditions, cold and dry weather is expected in Islamabad, Rawalpindi, and across most of the country on Friday night and over the weekend. Freezing temperatures are likely in hilly areas.

Moderate to dense fog is expected to continue over Punjab, upper Sindh, and the plains of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa. Frost may occur at isolated places in the Pothohar region and Kashmir during the morning hours.

Islamabad’s minimum temperature is expected to stay between 0°C and 02°C on Saturday, between -01°C and 01°C on Sunday, and between 0°C and 02°C on Monday.

Rawalpindi’s minimum temperature is forecast to remain between 0°C and 02°C on Saturday, between -01°C and 01°C on Sunday, and between 0°C and 02°C on Monday.

Meanwhile, cold and dry weather continued across most parts of the country, with freezing conditions in hilly regions. Jiwani recorded 02mm of rain. Moderate to dense fog persisted over most districts of Punjab, upper Sindh, and the plains of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.

Leh remained the coldest place in the country, with temperatures dropping 14°C below zero. The minimum temperature in Skardu was -12°C, in Astore -11°C, in Gupis -09°C, in Hunza and Kalat -08°C, and in Gilgit, Bagrote, and Kalam -06°C.

In Islamabad, the minimum temperature was recorded at 01°C, with relative humidity at 55 percent in the evening.

In Rawalpindi, the minimum temperature was also 01°C, with evening humidity recorded at 45 percent.
