The Ministry of Interior has told the National Assembly that four major Islamabad hotels, Marriott, Serena, Best Western, and Mövenpick, are licensed to sell alcohol under certain conditions.

In a written reply during the Question Hour, Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi said the initial license fee is Rs500,000, while the annual renewal costs Rs150,000.

The conditions require alcohol to be stored separately from other goods, the relevant officer to be informed within seven days of any liquor shipment’s arrival, and to give the excise officer the authority to cancel the license without providing a reason.
