The Meteorological Department has warned that Karachi is likely to experience a period of intense heat from June 9 to June 12, with temperatures expected to rise significantly over the coming days.
According to the Met Office, the city’s temperature could reach 38°C today. As wind speeds decrease, residents may also face humid, uncomfortable weather conditions.
From tomorrow, temperatures are expected to remain between 39°C and 42°C. Officials said the “feels-like” temperature may be 8 to 10 degrees higher than the actual temperature because of high humidity levels. Sea breezes are expected to continue, keeping humidity above 50 percent.

To help residents cope with the heat, the Met Office has advised people to take precautionary measures. Citizens are encouraged to stay hydrated, cover their heads when outdoors, and avoid unnecessary exposure to the sun between 10 am and 4 pm. Authorities warned that excessive sweating during the hot spell could lead to dehydration.
The department also noted that El Niño conditions have developed in the Pacific Ocean. Officials said it will become clearer within the next two weeks whether Pakistan has fully entered the El Niño phase. If that happens, monsoon rainfall across the country could be lower than normal.
Sindh is also expected to receive below-average rainfall during the upcoming monsoon season.
