The Punjab Food Authority conducted inspections across Rawalpindi on Tuesday and sealed four food outlets while confiscating large stocks of unsafe and low quality flour products.

Following the chief minister’s directions, Special Assistant to the Chief Minister for Food Salma Butt joined PFA teams during raids in Ratta Amral, Ganjmandi, and Jamia Masjid Road. During the checks, officials seized 3,700 kilograms of adulterated besan, 1,000 kilograms of wheat flour, and 980 kilograms of substandard fine flour from shops and production units.

A PFA spokesperson said cases were registered against two outlets involved in adulteration. Inspectors also found serious hygiene issues, including live and dead rats at some sites. Due to poor cleanliness, adulteration, and unsafe products, four premises were sealed, and a fine of Rs200,000 was imposed.

Salma Butt said the provincial government would not allow anyone to play with public health. She said food adulteration is a serious crime that puts lives in danger and will be dealt with strictly.

She added that the chief minister has given clear orders to ensure food quality across Punjab without discrimination. The PFA will take strong legal action against anyone involved in producing or selling unsafe food, regardless of status.

Salma Butt also appealed to the public to report such violations through the PFA helpline at 1223.
