Balochistan sets new winter timings for govt offices

The Balochistan government has announced revised working hours for government offices for the winter season, with the new schedule coming into effect from October 15, 2026, and remaining in place until April 14, 2027.

According to a notification issued by the Services and General Administration Department, government offices will operate from 8:30 a.m. to 4 p.m. from Monday to Thursday. Employees will have a break from 1:30 p.m. to 2 p.m. for prayers and lunch.

On Fridays, offices will remain open from 8:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. A break from 1:15 p.m. to 2:15 p.m. will be observed for Friday prayers and lunch.

Under the revised schedule, government offices will remain closed on Saturdays and Sundays, giving employees two weekly holidays.

The notification states that the new winter timings will not apply to hospitals and educational institutions. Schools, colleges and universities will continue to operate according to their existing schedules.

However, affiliated offices of the Health and Education Departments will follow a six-day working week. These offices will operate from 8:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. from Monday to Thursday and on Saturday. On Friday, they will remain open from 8:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m.

The Balochistan government said the revised timings have been introduced in view of winter conditions and to ensure the smooth functioning of government offices during the season.
