ISLAMABAD: The Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD) has forecast more rain, gusty winds, and isolated hailstorms in Islamabad, Rawalpindi, and several other parts of the country on Monday night and Tuesday.
According to the PMD, the cyclonic storm “SHAKHTI” remains active over the northwest Arabian Sea and is expected to move west-southwestward.
Meanwhile, a westerly system is affecting the northeastern parts of Pakistan and gradually shifting further northeast, with moist currents from the Arabian Sea reaching northeast Punjab and Kashmir.
Under these weather conditions, intermittent rain, wind, and thunderstorms, along with isolated heavy falls and hailstorms, are expected in the twin cities, northeast Punjab, upper Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Kashmir, and Gilgit-Baltistan through Tuesday.
The maximum temperature in Islamabad is likely to remain between 25°C and 27°C on Tuesday and between 24°C and 26°C on Wednesday.
During the past 24 hours, rain and thunderstorms with isolated heavy showers were recorded in various parts of Punjab, Kashmir, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, and Gilgit-Baltistan.
Murree received the highest rainfall in Punjab at 70mm, followed by Mandi Bahauddin (32mm), Rawalpindi (up to 30mm in some areas), and Islamabad (up to 31mm). In Azad Kashmir, Rawalakot received 68mm, while Kakul in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa recorded 46mm.
