Federal Minister for National Health Services, Regulations and Coordination, Mustafa Kamal, has announced a major proposed change to the medical entry test system.

Mustafa Kamal said that starting next year, the MDCAT (Medical and Dental College Admission Test) will be held within one week of the announcement of FSc results.

The Federal Minister added that FSc students will be able to sit for the MDCAT without requiring any extra preparation.

According to him, this move is intended to reduce the long gap between intermediate exams and medical entry tests, allowing students to maintain academic continuity and minimizing uncertainty in the admission process.

At present, the MDCAT is conducted under the supervision of the Pakistan Medical and Dental Council (PMDC), while provincial authorities organize the examination. The timing of the test has often been criticized by students and parents due to delays and long waiting periods after FSc results.

Mustafa Kamal stated that the proposed schedule would streamline the admission timeline and make the process more efficient for aspiring medical students across the country.

However, no official notification has yet been issued by the education authorities regarding the implementation of this proposal.

If approved, the revised schedule is expected to significantly reshape medical college admission timelines in Pakistan.
