The Institute of Business Administration (IBA) Karachi has decided to set up a new campus in the federal capital, Islamabad.

The proposal was approved during a meeting of the Board of Governors held on Thursday. Officials briefed the board that the process of acquiring land for the new campus in DHA Islamabad is nearly complete.

The board was also told that establishing the Islamabad campus will not require a new federal law. Instead, the existing IBA Act of 1994 (Sindh Act) will be amended so the institution can legally operate a campus in the federal capital.

During the meeting, Secretary Boards and Universities Abbas Baloch assured members that the required changes to the law would be made soon to support the plan for the Islamabad campus.

The Board of Governors also gave approval for the construction of 32 residential flats for IBA faculty members and staff. The project is intended to help meet the housing needs of the institution’s employees.

Officials said the Islamabad campus is part of IBA’s wider plan to expand its academic reach and offer executive education and postgraduate programs for professionals living in northern Pakistan, including those in the federal capital.

In recent years, IBA has already been conducting some executive education and Executive MBA programs in Islamabad to cater to senior professionals and corporate leaders in the area.

IBA Karachi is considered one of Pakistan’s top business schools. It was established in 1955 and remained affiliated with the University of Karachi until 1994.
