Cold wave continues as rain and snowfall predicted in upper KP

Light rain at intervals along with snowfall over hilly areas is expected in upper Khyber Pakhtunkhwa on Friday evening and during the night.

According to the Pakistan Meteorological Department, a shallow westerly weather system is affecting the upper parts of the country, while continental air continues to influence the remaining regions.

Due to this weather pattern, areas including Chitral, Dir, Swat, Kalam, Abbottabad, Haripur, Battagram, Shangla, Malakand, Bajaur, Parachinar and Kohistan are likely to receive light rain with snowfall during the evening and night hours on Friday. Other parts of the province are expected to experience cold weather with partly cloudy skies.

For Saturday and Sunday, Peshawar and most districts of the province are likely to remain cold and dry. Meanwhile, upper districts are expected to face freezing conditions.

The minimum temperature in Peshawar is likely to stay between 04°C and 06°C on both Saturday and Sunday.

During the past 24 hours, cold and dry weather continued across Peshawar and most areas of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, while freezing conditions persisted in upper districts. Some isolated locations in upper parts of the province experienced partly cloudy weather along with light rain.

Recorded rainfall included 02 mm in Parachinar and 01 mm in Dir.

Kalam remained the coldest area in the province, where the temperature dropped 04°C below freezing. Malam Jabba recorded a minimum temperature of -03°C, while Dir recorded -01°C.

In Peshawar, the lowest temperature recorded was 06°C, and morning humidity levels were measured at 82 percent.
