Light rain or drizzle is expected in Islamabad and several parts of Pakistan on Friday evening and during the night, while snowfall is likely in the country’s hilly regions during the same period.
According to the Pakistan Meteorological Department, a shallow westerly weather system is currently affecting the upper areas of Pakistan, while continental air is influencing the rest of the country.
Due to this weather pattern, Islamabad, Gilgit-Baltistan, upper Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and Kashmir are expected to experience partly cloudy to cloudy conditions with chances of light rain on Friday evening and night. Snowfall is also likely in the mountainous areas, whereas other parts of the country are expected to remain cold and dry.
For Saturday and Sunday, the weather in Islamabad, Rawalpindi and most parts of Pakistan is expected to stay mainly cold and dry. Freezing conditions are likely to affect the hilly areas, especially during morning and night hours.
The minimum temperature in Islamabad is expected to remain between 02°C and 04°C on Saturday and Sunday. In Rawalpindi, the minimum temperature is likely to stay between 06°C and 08°C during the same period.
During the last 24 hours, most parts of the country experienced cold and dry weather, while freezing conditions were recorded in upper regions. Some isolated areas in upper Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and northern Balochistan experienced partly cloudy weather along with light rain.
Rainfall recorded during this period included 02 mm in Parachinar and 01 mm in Dir.
Leh remained the coldest place in the country, where the temperature dropped 12°C below freezing. Astore recorded a minimum temperature of -08°C, while Kalam and Skardu recorded -04°C.
In Islamabad, the lowest temperature recorded was 04°C, with morning humidity measured at 86 percent. In Rawalpindi, the minimum temperature was recorded at 08°C, while morning humidity stood at 74 percent.
