Maryam Nawaz said crimes against women and children were particularly alarming and described those involved in such acts as mentally disturbed individuals.
She referred to the abuse of a 10-month-old girl, saying the incident had deeply shaken public confidence in humanity and demonstrated the need for stronger systems to protect vulnerable citizens.
The chief minister said people expected the government to safeguard their lives and property and added that protecting citizens was her responsibility, even when fulfilling that responsibility required difficult decisions and personal risks.

She said the provincial government was working toward building a safer Punjab supported by modern technology and improved governance.
Maryam Nawaz also expressed hope that Pakistan would continue moving forward at a rapid pace, adding that efforts were being made to improve the country’s image and perception at the international level.
