Late Wednesday night, armed bandits launched a violent assault on the M-5 Motorway near Bhong Sharif, firing on vehicles, injuring several people, and abducting at least 10 passengers and truck workers.

Police said the heavily armed group opened fire indiscriminately, hitting multiple cars, two passenger coaches, and several trucks and trailers.

More than a dozen vehicles were damaged, and many were left stranded with burst tires. Among the injured were a woman, a child, and two others in critical condition, all shifted to Sheikh Zayed Hospital in Rahim Yar Khan.

The Motorway Police temporarily suspended traffic near the Guddu Interchange as security forces moved in, later restoring flow with increased deployment.

According to officials, the attackers fled toward the Kacha riverine belt, leaving behind trucks with crew members missing. Eyewitnesses confirmed that around 10 people were taken away at gunpoint.

The incident occurred just days after police drone strikes targeted Indhar gang hideouts in the kacha area, prompting gang leader Tanveer Indhar to issue threats in a video message. A case has been registered at Bhong Police Station.
