The Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD) has issued a weather alert for the northern and upper regions of the country, warning of rain, wind, and thunderstorms in several areas over the coming days.

According to the forecast, a westerly weather system will enter northern Pakistan on the night of November 3 and persist until November 5.

Rain, windstorms, and thunderstorms are expected in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, including Chitral, Swat, Dir, Mansehra, Abbottabad, Kohistan, Buner, and Peshawar, as well as in tribal districts like Bajaur, Kurram, and Khyber. The weather system will also affect Gilgit-Baltistan (Skardu, Gilgit, Hunza, Astore) and Azad Kashmir (Muzaffarabad, Neelum Valley, Rawalakot, Kotli, Mirpur), where snowfall is likely over mountainous areas. Isolated hailstorms may also occur.

In Punjab, light to moderate rainfall is expected in Islamabad, Rawalpindi, Murree, Attock, Chakwal, Lahore, Sialkot, Gujranwala, and surrounding districts.

The PMD warned that temperatures will drop noticeably during and after the spell, while fog and smog are expected to ease temporarily before returning once the skies clear. Strong winds, lightning, and hail could damage weak structures or crops.

Farmers have been advised to plan agricultural activities carefully, while tourists and travelers are urged to stay cautious in hilly areas. The public is encouraged to remain updated on official weather advisories and take necessary precautions.
