Karachi police have launched a wide-ranging investigation after the bodies of four people, two women, a man, and a child, were found inside a manhole near the Mai Kolachi area.

South Zone DIG Asad Raza said the condition of the bodies suggests they had been there for around 10 to 15 days. The remains were shifted to a hospital for post-mortem and legal formalities to establish the cause and timing of death.

Investigators said initial findings indicate signs of torture, as injuries were visible on the bodies and blood traces were found inside the manhole. This has raised suspicion that the victims were killed at another location before being dumped there.

Police are working to identify the victims, though SSP Keamari noted that the severely damaged state of the bodies is complicating the process.

The incident has prompted a swift response from provincial authorities. Sindh Chief Minister Murad Ali Shah directed law enforcement agencies to conduct a comprehensive investigation and ensure those responsible are brought to justice, stressing that the protection of citizens is a top priority.

Separately, the Sindh minister sought a detailed report from SSP Keamari and instructed officials to determine the motive behind the crime and arrest those involved without delay.
