RAWALPINDI: Authorities have imposed Section 144 in Rawalpindi and Islamabad as security measures have been tightened ahead of the scheduled visit of Imran Khan’s family, lawyers, and Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) leaders to meet the party founder in Adiala Jail today (Tuesday).

Reports indicate that security around the jail has been strengthened, and all schools and shops along Adiala Road have been closed as a precaution.

PTI has shared a list of six lawyers and leaders expected to meet Imran Khan, including PTI Chairman Barrister Gohar Khan, Salman Akram Raja, Barrister Salman Safdar, Ali Zaman, Sardar Nabi, and Talat Mehmood.

Imran Khan’s sisters are also expected to visit the jail, while Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Chief Minister Sohail Afridi is anticipated to arrive. PTI has called on all national and provincial Assembly members to visit the jail in solidarity.

In response, the district administration has enforced Section 144 for three days in Rawalpindi, banning political and religious gatherings.

Security around Adiala Jail has been raised to the highest level, with more than 700 police officers and officials deployed, additional checkpoints established, and anti-riot equipment on standby.

Vehicle checks will be conducted before allowing access, and legal action will be taken against anyone violating Section 144.

Furthermore, all private schools in the Gorkhapur area and nearby locations have been closed, and shopkeepers in Gorkhapur Bazaar have been instructed to keep their businesses shut for the day.

Security checkpoints have been set up at multiple points along Adiala Road, including Dahgal, Gate 1, Gate 5, Factory, and Gorkhapur areas, to maintain order and ensure safety.
