Cement sales increase by 12.45% in August 2025

The All Pakistan Cement Manufacturers Association (APCMA) has released its latest data, showing a rise in cement dispatches during August 2025 compared to the same month last year.

Local sales stood at 3.097 million tons in August 2025, up from 2.807 million tons in August 2024, marking a 10.33% increase. Exports also showed growth, climbing 22.13% to 749,723 tons compared to 613,857 tons in the same month last year.

Despite this improvement, performance in July 2025 was stronger, when domestic sales rose by 18.61% and exports surged by 84% compared to July 2024.

Overall, total cement dispatches in August 2025 reached 3.846 million tons, reflecting a 12.45% rise from 3.421 million tons in August 2024.

Breaking down the figures, North-based cement mills dispatched 2.795 million tons in August 2025, up 8.10% from 2.585 million tons last year, while South-based mills recorded a jump of 25.93%, dispatching 1.05 million tons compared to 0.835 million tons in August 2024.

In domestic sales, North-based mills supplied 2.586 million tons in August 2025, an 8.64% increase, whereas South-based mills dispatched 510,758 tons locally, up 19.81% compared to last year.

Export-wise, North-based mills saw only a slight increase of 1.84%, while South-based mills recorded a strong rise of 32.30%, reaching 541,054 tons.

For the first two months of the fiscal year (July–August 2025), total cement dispatches, including both local and export sales, stood at 7.847 million tons, a 20.88% increase from 6.492 million tons in the same period last year.

Local sales rose by 14.25% to 6.090 million tons, while exports jumped by 51.29% to 1.757 million tons.

North-based mills contributed 5.004 million tons to local sales during July–August 2025, up 10.36%, and exported 440,654 tons, a rise of 44.99%. Their total sales stood at 5.445 million tons, up 12.53% compared to last year.

Meanwhile, South-based mills supplied 1.086 million tons locally, showing a 36.46% rise, while exports surged by 53.53% to 1.316 million tons. Combined, their total dispatches increased by 45.31% to 2.402 million tons.

An APCMA spokesman pointed out that heavy rains and floods have caused serious hardships for the people and called on the government to reduce cement taxes to make rehabilitation work more affordable.
