Officials have requested that this amount be allocated separately from the regular budget.

According to the transport department, the electric bikes will be given to women through an open balloting system at no expense to the recipients.

Sources reveal that the proposal is set to be presented for approval before the provincial cabinet tomorrow.

Meanwhile, the Senate was earlier informed that the Pakistan government is actively promoting electric vehicles to protect the environment and reduce dependence on imported fuel.

During Question Hour, Minister for Law Azam Nazeer Tarar stated that thirty electric buses had been imported from China and stationed at Jinnah Convention Center in Islamabad, where advanced charging infrastructure has been set up.
