Raghu says Waqar copies his show without copyright permission

The Indian media report shows Raghu Ram a clip of the Pakistani adaptation of “Roadies”, and asks if he is aware of it.

Raghu said that Waqar Zaka, the host of the Pakistani show Living on the Edge, renamed the show Pakistani Roadies after the fourth season of Roadies.

“When I saw this, I realized they were co-opting the brand. I went to my boss and said, ‘Sue the pants off these guys.’ But my boss responded, ‘We can’t. We never copyrighted Roadies”.

Frustrated, Raghu considered securing the copyright himself but found out two days later that MTV had acted quickly to claim it.

He said, “If they hadn’t done it, I would’ve owned the Roadies brand, and my life would’ve been entirely different!”

Although Raghu took the oversight personally, he acknowledged with humor that owning the rights would have made him much wealthier.

Even though MTV Roadies remains a cultural phenomenon, he has now been in season 20.
Since its beginnings in 2003, the show has started a career of stars such as Rannviji Singha, Ayushmann Khurrana, and Prince Narula.

Interestingly, Waqar Zaka had earlier proposed a collaboration with Raghu but the idea never materialized due to Raghu’s unavailability.

Meanwhile, Zaka’s Living on the Edge became Pakistan’s first reality show based on daring acts and gained immense popularity, especially amongst the youth and housewives,

It gathers a huge following on social media thanks to its viral content.
