The United Kingdom is set to experience its third heatwave of the year, with forecasters warning that temperatures could stay above 30°C for as long as 10 consecutive days in some parts of the country.
According to international media reports, the hottest weather is expected from the middle of the week. Temperatures in southern England could reach around 34°C, while a few isolated areas may see highs close to 35°C by the end of the week.
The UK Health Security Agency (UKHSA) has issued an Amber Heat-Health Alert for the Midlands, East of England, London, South East England and South West England.
The alert will remain in place from July 8 to July 12, with officials warning of higher health risks for older adults, young children and people with existing medical conditions.

At the same time, Yellow Heat-Health Alerts have been issued for northern England, including the North East, North West, and Yorkshire and the Humber, covering the same period.
The Met Office has officially confirmed the UK’s third heatwave after parts of southeast England recorded temperatures above the regional heatwave threshold for three consecutive days.
Weather experts believe this heatwave is likely to last longer than the previous two experienced earlier this summer. However, it is not expected to surpass the UK’s highest temperature records.
Health authorities have advised people to stay well hydrated, avoid spending long periods in direct sunlight during the hottest part of the day, check on elderly relatives and vulnerable neighbours, and watch for symptoms of heat exhaustion and heatstroke as temperatures continue to climb.
